This is a reply to Newsweek's Marc Schulman (https://www.newsweek.com/tel-aviv-diary-opinion-1045590)
Israel has been at war constantly for the past 70 years and another 70 before that as Jews living in the Land of Israel.
If the civilized world had allowed us to do what they themselves would do, i.e.destroy their enemies decisively, then we could live in peace, but we are denied the right to defend ourselves by the UN, the US under most presidents and the antisemitic EU. We are surrounded on all sides by enemies and are only allowed to use enough force to hold them at bay. Hence no peace for Israel. And Marc Schulman is looking for normalcy! I don't agree with the Nation State law, it should be scrapped, but it is the constant threat from our enemies and the lack of support from our 'friends' which has caused many of our citizens to lean towards this hard-line approach.
