Your Holiness,
I am a Jew, so I hope I am addressing you in an acceptable manner.
You are the 'father' of a large number of the population of our world.
I am distressed at the danger facing Christians in the Muslim world. I have not heard many protests, not even from the leader of the the free world, the President of America.
In Bethlehem, the cradle of Christianity, ruled by a so-called moderate secular Palestinian government, Christians feel persecuted and have been emigrating in their droves, I do not hear condemnation.
In Israel the Christian communities are free and thriving, but I do not hear support from the HOLY SEE in our struggle with Islamic terror.
I see and hear of growing antisemitism in Europe. Jews had thought that the Holocaust had shown Europe the error of its ways, an would end European antisemitism. But still from the Left and the Right of European politics, Jews are being denigrated, jumping on the bandwagon of growing Islamic antisemitism.
I beg Your Holiness to take a few minutes of your time, in your weekly blessing from the balcony in St. Peters Square, to address the rise in antisemitism.
I know that the images from Gaza are horrific, but it is Hamas that cares nothing for their people. In interview after interview, Israelis, soldiers, ordinary people and most importantly children, show sympathy for the people of Gaza. Israel set up a field hospital on the border; Hamas refused to allow its people to seek medical aid from this Israeli hospital. Hamas cares nothing for human life, and they boast about their willingness to kill and to be killed.
Sincerely,
Henry Tobias
